ESL I-III: Our ESL program uses the Side by Side curriculum. Students attend classes for 9 hours per week for 10 week quarters. ESL I and II are broken up into two quarters so students have 10 weeks in which to complete 7-10 chapters, depending on which level of classes they are attending. ESL I builds on the skills students have learned in Pre-ESL with a brief review of ABC’s, numbers, days of the week/months, and time, and then progresses on with more complex vocabulary and the beginning of simple sentence structure. ESL II continues to build on what students have learned in Pre ESL and ESL I introducing more complex grammar, vocabulary, and sentences including the use of adjectives and adverbs. ESL III builds upon all of the English skills the student has developed previously and then expands the students comprehension of grammar rules and increasingly complex sentence structures and vocabulary. |
